Venice is an ancient city-state, and was a very important port on the spice trade route. For this reason it became a true melting pot of cuisines. Popular seasonings include marjoram, cinnamon, flower water and pickled ingredients, especially onions. The tradition of using spices, both to cure meats, and in desserts is very common.
Due to their low lying lagoon, they are one of the few rice-growing regions of Italy. Corn is also especially popular, which is made into polenta. Both of these staples almost exceed the popularity of pasta in the region.
Also very important is the access to, and use of, cold water seafood such as squid, shrimp and crab.
Venice is known to be one of the most unique and sophisticated food cities in Europe. Unlike the rusticity of Naples or the earthy-hominess of Parma, the food of Venice is quite cosmopolitan and forward-thinking.

Team for Kids provides free or low-cost school and community-based health and fitness programs to children who would otherwise have no access to regular physical activity.
 Join us from August 10th to 18th as we explore the flavors of Spain with a special Tapas style menu at our Bellevue location.
The word “tapas” is derived from the Spanish verb tapar, “to cover”. According to legend, the tapas tradition began when King Alfonso X of Castile recovered from an illness by drinking wine with small dishes between meals. After regaining his health, the king ordered that taverns would not be allowed to serve wine to customers unless it was accompanied by a small snack or “tapa”.

 We are pleased to announce that Cast Iron Studios, our new event and culinary activity space is officially open for business. Located in the heart of downtown Bellevue, Cast Iron Studios will be our private event venue, catering hub, and location for regular food and drink workshops.
Cast Iron Studios was designed to host both intimate and large private events and parties as well as specialty food and wine workshops led by our company’s cast of expert chefs, wine directors and bartenders. The space will also serve as a headquarters for our popular catering services.
